What do you think if there would be the following procedure?
Customer books today 5 bicycles (150€) with deposit e.g. 20% (30€). In the booking confirmation you will be informed that you want to pay the remaining amount one week before the rental date. 14 days before, the customer should receive a reminder email if he has not yet paid the balance (automated email). This is how travel companies have been doing it successfully for years.
