Why you're seeing this
Every BRM plan includes a maximum number of items you can have in your inventory. When you try to add items that would take you past it, the change is refused with a message along the lines of "plan inventory size of … would be exceeded".
The good news is that this counts your active inventory only.
Archived items don't count towards your limit
When you archive an item it stops counting against your plan, and that capacity becomes available again straight away. This is what makes seasonal and temporary changes possible without upgrading.
The order matters. If you archive the items you're replacing before you create the new ones, the space is already free and the new items will save without complaint. If you try to create the new items first, you'll hit the limit — because at that moment both sets are counting.
A worked example — running a seasonal offer
Say you want to offer your electric bikes at a discount for a few weeks using separate items:
- Archive the existing electric bike items you're replacing.
- Create the new discounted items.
- When the offer ends, archive the temporary items and restore the originals.
Nothing is lost along the way — archived items and their history stay in BRM, and you can see them at any time using the Show Archived toggle in Inventory, or the Archived filter on item search.
If you genuinely need a bigger limit
If archiving isn't enough because you've simply grown, your limit is tied to your plan and we can look at it with you. Contact support or your account manager and tell us roughly how many items you need — we can raise the limit on your store without you having to change anything yourself.
There isn't currently a screen where you can see your own item count against your limit, so if you'd like to know where you stand, just ask us.
