Setting Up PayPal

Follow these steps to link your PayPal account and enable credit card payments for your customers: 


  1. Enable Credit Card Payments on PayPal: Ensure customers can pay using either a PayPal account or credit card (no PayPal account required).

  2. Automate BRM Updates: Set up automatic updates in BRM to reflect PayPal payments for your rentals.

  3. Inform Customers: Let customers know you accept both credit cards and PayPal. 

  4. Link BRM to PayPal: Connect your PayPal account to BRM for seamless payment processing.


To allow customers to pay with a credit card without needing a PayPal account, follow these steps: 


To allow customers to pay with a credit card without needing a PayPal account, make sure you have a Premier or Business PayPal account. Then, go to your Profile > Account Settings in PayPal and adjust the setting to make a PayPal account optional for payments. This will enable customers to complete transactions using only their credit card.


Head to Profile > Account Settings



Go to Website Payments and select Website Preferences (https://www.paypal.com/businessmanage/preferences/website). 


Toggle PayPal Account Optional to On to allow customers to pay using a credit card without needing a PayPal account. 



Automatically Update BRM with PayPal Payments 

To ensure your reservations are automatically confirmed and payment transactions are recorded in BRM, enable Instant Payment Notifications (IPN) in PayPal.

  1. Log in to PayPal and go to My Account > Website Payments > Instant Payment Notifications.

  2. Click Choose IPN Settings.

  3. Enable IPN and set the handler URL to:

This will ensure that payment notifications are sent automatically, and your reservations are updated in BRM.



Final Technical Step for IPN Setup 


To complete the IPN setup, visit the following page in your PayPal account:


https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/customerprofileweb?cmd=_profile-language-encoding


Then, select 'More Options' 

Then select 'No, Use UTF-8'

Link BRM to Your PayPal Account


To complete the setup, you need to link your PayPal account to your BRM settings. This will ensure seamless payment processing and automatic updates for your reservations. Simply copy and paste your PayPal Merchant ID in BRM.





Inform Your Customers


It’s a good idea to let your customers know on your website, above the booking wizard, that you accept payments via PayPal but they don’t need a PayPal account. They can simply pay using a credit card.
