Customer Booking - taking a booking fee

Created by Doug Stoddart, Modified on Fri, 30 Aug at 3:22 PM by Doug Stoddart

'Booking Fee' is a special kind of Add-On - that has unique behaviour.

Let's say you want to charge a booking fee for online customer bookings (for example to offset the price of our software - or simply for your admin costs)

You can go ahead and set that up and it becomes a mandatory, pre-selected add-on during the booking process.

It will be presented when your customers check out, just before the reservation is made, as an Add-On.

Here is how you set it up:

  • Go to the back-office and find your Add-Ons (Reservation Level Extras)
  • Add a new one booking fee

When you configure your new RLE for the gratuity / tip, change the sub-type to be 'Booking Fee'

Then set your booking fee as a fixed price.

(% based is not yet available but we will be working in it fairly soon)

You will find, with this Add-On Subtype that some online configuration is fixed:  (see the red arrow below).

  • always visible
  • always mandatory

Then you will get this desired behaviour on the Customer Booking Page.

Here is an example of how this might look on the invoice / printout
