You decide how much of the booking total customers pay when they book online — anything from nothing at all up to the full amount. The rest is collected later, in store or through the Back Office.
Setting how much they pay
Go to Settings > Payment management > Payment processors and find the Online booking section. Booking payment is a percentage slider from 0% to 100%:
- 100% — the customer pays in full when they book.
- A lower percentage — the customer pays that share as a deposit, and the balance is due later.
- 0% — the customer books without paying.
This is a percentage of the booking total. There's no option to charge a fixed amount instead.
It applies to the whole store
The booking payment percentage is a single store-wide setting. It applies to every offering you sell online — you can't ask for 50% on tours and 100% on rentals.
Which payment processor takes the money
Your store has a default online payment processor, set on the same page.
The Customer Booking Page takes card payments through Stripe. If your store's online processor is set to something else, bookings will still come through — but they'll arrive unpaid, with the money to collect afterwards. If you're expecting online bookings to be paid and they aren't, this is the first thing to check.
Some stores can also set the processor per offering, under Online payments on the offering itself — useful if you want one offering to take payment online and another to be book-now-pay-later. This is being rolled out store by store, so contact support if you'd like it enabled.
What this setting is not
- It is not a security deposit (the refundable damage deposit you record against a rental). That's tracked separately and isn't collected by the booking page.
- It is not a card pre-authorisation — holding an amount on a card without taking it is a separate Back Office feature.
For how the total itself is worked out, see how online booking pricing is calculated.
