Yes — the customer can sign on your device
If a customer has no smartphone, no email address, or simply doesn't want to use their own device, they can sign the waiver on your screen. You don't need a second tablet, and nothing needs to be "beamed" to another piece of hardware.
The trick is that BRM's waiver page can be opened as a second browser tab on the very computer or tablet you're already working on.
Setting it up (once)
- Go to Settings → Beaming & Self-registration → Registered devices.
- If you have no device listed, click Add new. Give it a Kiosk ID and a Description such as "Front desk PC", make sure Enabled is on, and leave Public device switched off. Save it.
You only ever have to do this once per computer.
Using it with a customer at the counter
- In Registered devices, find your device's row and click Store link in the Online Link column. The waiver page opens in a new tab on the same machine. Leave that tab open.
- Go back to your Back Office tab and open the customer or their reservation.
- Choose Sign waiver — on a reservation it's under the More menu, and on a customer record it's a button on their details. Pick your device from the list.
- Switch to the waiver tab. The customer's details are already filled in — hand them the screen to read and sign.
Keep that waiver tab open through the day and you can repeat steps 2–4 for every customer.
Things that catch people out
- The waiver tab has to stay open to receive the customer's details. If you've closed it, open Store link again before sending.
- Don't tick "Public device" for this. Public devices are for unattended self-registration and you cannot send a customer to them this way.
- If you use kiosk security, open the waiver tab in the same browser you registered the device with. A different browser won't be recognised.
The other options
- Email a signing link. On the customer record, use Send waiver. This needs the customer to have an email address on file and to be attached to a reservation. You can also add a signing link to booking emails automatically — look for Include electronic signature link in your notification settings.
- Pen and paper. When printing a booking form, tick Signature line & waiver to include the waiver text and a space to sign by hand.
- Self-registration station. If you'd rather customers filled in their own details on a shared tablet, register it as a Public device and leave the waiver page open on it. Note that a public device can't also be used for the counter flow above.
There is currently no way to send a waiver link by text message — the emailed link and the on-screen options above are the alternatives.
Checking it worked
The customer's record shows Signed waiver up to date? and a Signed waiver timestamp. You can also add a Signature column to your reservations list, or filter your customer list by Missing signatures to see who still needs to sign.
