Applies to: stores in Spain and Spanish territories
What is VeriFactu?
VeriFactu is a new rule from Spain's tax office (the Agencia Tributaria, or AEAT). It says every invoice from a Spanish business must be sent to the tax office as soon as it's issued, and can't be changed afterwards without a proper record.
It applies to companies from 1 January 2027, and to self-employed business owners (autónomos) from 1 July 2027.
What is BRM doing about it?
We're building VeriFactu compliance directly into BRM, ahead of these deadlines. Once it's ready, invoices issued through BRM will automatically be sent to the tax office and will meet all the new rules — with no change to how you take bookings or payments.
Do I need to do anything right now?
No. There's nothing you need to do at the moment.
Soon, we'll send you a short questionnaire to confirm a few details about your store's tax setup. Later, closer to when VeriFactu switches on for your store, we'll ask the account holder to sign a one-time authorisation. This lets BRM file your invoice records with the tax office on your behalf, using a certified channel.
We'll be in touch when it's time for you and your accountant (gestor) to take a look.
What if I already send my official invoices through another system?
If your business already issues its official invoices another way — for example through your accountant or different software — let us know. We can set BRM up to work alongside that system instead.
