Seeing how much use an item has had
BRM has an Item usage report that shows how many times each item has been rented, how many days it was out, and how much revenue it earned.
How to run it
- Go to Reports → Graphs.
- Set Report type to Item usage per year.
- Choose your Start year and End year, or use one of the shortcuts under Filters — This year, Last year, Last two years, Last three years.
- Press Search.
Below the chart you'll get a table with a row per item — its ID and Store ref, then for each year a Rental count, Days usage and Revenue.
Use Download to export it as CSV if you want to work with it in a spreadsheet.
What this report can't do
It's worth knowing its limits before you go looking:
- Whole calendar years only. There's no way to ask for a custom date range, so a question like "how many times was this bike rented in June and July?" can't be answered from this report.
- Every item at once. You can't filter it to a single bike. To look at just one, export the CSV and filter by its Store ref, or find its row in the table.
- Items with no rentals that year don't appear at all, rather than showing a count of zero. If a bike is missing from the list, that means it wasn't rented in that year.

If what you actually want is who had a particular bike rather than how often, see "How do I find out who rented a particular bike?" — that's a reservation search rather than a report.
