With Waivers 2.0, the Click here to sign waiver link in your booking emails opens a new waiver page on bikerez.com. Everyone on the booking can sign on their own phone before they arrive, and you can see each rider's status on the reservation.
Waivers 2.0 is being switched on for stores that use electronic waivers, in batches, usually at the same time as the new Notifications page. There's nothing to set up: your waiver and terms are the same documents you use today, and the link goes in the same emails as now.
What changes for your riders
- Everyone named on the booking signs, each on their own phone. The lead booker opens the link, then shares it with the group from the page, and each rider picks their name. They can sign in any order.
- A rider under the age of majority doesn't sign for themselves. A parent or guardian signs for them, and the guardian's name is recorded. The lead booker can do this for children on the booking. Adults sign for themselves.
- The waiver is shown in the booking's language.
- Riders read to the end. They scroll to the end of your terms and waiver, tick to accept each one, and tick any extra checkboxes you've added, before they sign.
- Signing closes 2 days after the rental ends, or as soon as the booking is cancelled.
See What do riders see when they sign the waiver online?
What changes for you
- A Waivers tab on each reservation shows who has signed, when, how, and who signed for a child.
- From that tab you can email the lead booker a reminder, or show a QR code so a rider can sign on their own phone at the counter.
- You can add your own checkboxes to the waiver, for example "I'll return the bikes by {due back}". See How do I add my own checkboxes to the waiver?
What stays the same
- Anyone who can't or doesn't want to sign online can still sign at your shop on the day, at the desk or the kiosk, exactly as now. More → Sign waiver still sends the booking to your registered device.
- Paper waivers still work: tick Include waivers when you print the booking, or Signature line & waiver when you email it.
- Links already sent keep working.
The Waivers tab
Open the reservation. The Waivers tab comes first, before Notes, and the reservation opens on it. Its badge shows how many have signed, for example 2/3: red while anyone still has to sign, and green once everyone has.
The tab shows on bookings whose emails carry the electronic signature link, and on any booking where someone has already signed.
At the top, 2 of 3 signed sums it up. Use the refresh button to see signatures that have just come in.
Each rider has a row:
- Their name, or Unnamed rider, and the items they're riding.
- Lead marks the lead booker. Added themselves marks a rider who wasn't named on the booking and added themselves on the waiver page.
- Their status:
- Signed, with the date, time and how they signed: Online, shared link, Online, email link, Email link or Kiosk. When a parent or guardian signed for a child, the row also says Signed by guardian and the guardian's name.
- Signature on record: they've signed your waiver before, but not for this booking. "Not linked to this booking. Check the date before asking them to sign again."
- Not signed, highlighted.
- View signature opens their signature. Under Also agreed to you see the extra checkboxes they ticked, worded exactly as they saw them.
"No item names a rider, so the lead's signature covers the party." You'll see this when your booking page doesn't ask for each rider's name. Only the lead is listed, and their signature covers everyone. Other riders can still add themselves on the waiver page. To have every rider listed by name, collect names for each item: see How to collect details for each item a customer books.
Also signed for this booking lists people who signed without a place on the booking, for example at the kiosk.
Send the lead booker a reminder
- Open the reservation and go to the Waivers tab.
- Click Send link to lead booker.
- Check who it's going to and who is Still to sign.
- Click Send. You'll see Signing link sent to and the address, and the tab then shows Reminder sent with the date and time.
The lead booker gets an email listing the riders who still need to sign, with the signing link as a button and a QR code to share with their group.
- It goes to the lead booker only, so they need an email address on the booking.
- You can send one reminder per booking every 10 minutes.
- Send link to lead booker and Show QR only show while someone still has to sign.
Let a rider sign at the counter with a QR code
- Open the reservation and go to the Waivers tab.
- Click Show QR.
- The rider scans the code with their phone's camera, picks their name and signs on their own phone.
Copy link copies the signing link, if you'd rather send it another way. It works like a key to the booking's waiver, so only share it with the people on the booking.
Good to know
- Use Send link to lead booker rather than Send waiver. Send waiver on a customer record emails that customer the group's link. If they aren't named on the booking, they have to add themselves on the waiver page, which creates a new customer record.
- Signatures show on the reservation. The Waivers tab is where you see every rider's signature. The customer record still shows the customer's latest signature and Signed waiver up to date?.
- Keep each language's waiver up to date. Riders sign the waiver in the booking's language, so a translation that's out of date is the version they sign. Edit them on Settings → General → Terms and Waivers.
- The reminder email is in English for now, whatever the booking's language.
- Bookings that aren't rentals, such as repairs, tours and appointments, keep the previous signing page. See Waivers 2.0: common questions.
