Waivers 2.0: common questions

Answers to the questions stores ask most about Waivers 2.0, the online waiver page where every rider signs on their own phone. For the full picture, see What changes with Waivers 2.0, and how do I check who has signed?

Why do some bookings still get the old waiver page?

The new page is for rentals, sent while the booking is provisional or confirmed. These still open the previous signing page:

  • Bookings that aren't rentals, such as repairs, tours, activities, events and appointments.
  • Links sent before your store moved to Waivers 2.0. They keep working on the previous page until they expire.
  • Links sent from a booking at another stage. If you email a signing link yourself, with Include electronic signature link on the reservation's Email button or with Send waiver on a customer record, the new page is used only while the booking is provisional or confirmed, and only if that stage's email has Electronic signature link ticked. A link sent from a checked-out booking, for example, opens the previous page.

Signatures from either page are kept against the customer, and the reservation's Waivers tab shows them.

Why does my test email not include the e-signature link?

The test dialog leaves Include electronic signature link unticked on purpose, because ticking it creates a real signing request on the booking you test with. See New Notifications page: common questions.

A rider says the page says "This booking is closed"

Signing closes 2 days after the rental ends, and straight away if the booking is cancelled. You can't reopen it. The rider can sign at your shop instead.

Can the lead booker sign for everyone?

Only for children. Each adult on the booking signs for themselves, and the lead booker shares the link with them from the page. The lead can sign for children on the booking as their parent or guardian, and the lead's name is recorded as the guardian.

A rider isn't on the list

Riders are listed from the names on the booking's items. If a rider isn't listed, they tap I'm not on this list and add themselves, as long as the booking has a place for them. If every place is taken, the page says "There's no space left on this booking for another rider." Check nobody has signed in the wrong place, or have them sign at your shop.

To have every rider listed by name, ask for each rider's name per item on your booking page. See How to collect details for each item a customer books.

The Waivers tab says "No item names a rider, so the lead's signature covers the party"

Your booking page didn't ask for each rider's name, so only the lead booker is listed, and their signature covers everyone on the booking. Other riders can still add themselves and sign.

Why is there no Waivers tab on a booking?

The tab is part of Waivers 2.0. It shows when your booking emails carry the electronic signature link, and on any booking where someone has signed. Check that Electronic signature link is ticked under Include in this email for the Online provisional booking and Booking confirmed emails, in Settings → Notifications.

Which language is the waiver in?

The booking's language. If the lead shares the link, each rider sees it in their phone's language when your store uses that language, and otherwise in the booking's language. Riders sign the version in that language, so keep each translation up to date on Settings → General → Terms and Waivers.

Why can't I send a reminder?

The message tells you why:

  • "A reminder was sent a few minutes ago." You can send one every 10 minutes per booking.
  • "The lead booker has no email address on this booking." Add their email address, or show the QR code at the counter instead.
  • "Everyone has already signed."
  • "Waiver links aren't available for this booking." The booking gets the previous page (see the first question), or it's cancelled.

What does "Signature on record" mean?

The rider has signed your waiver before, but not for this booking. Check the date before asking them to sign again.

Where do I see a rider's signature?

On the reservation's Waivers tab, click View signature on their row. Also agreed to lists the extra checkboxes they ticked. The customer record still shows their most recent signature.

Do riders need an account to sign?

No. After signing, the lead booker may be offered a free account to save their details for next time. It's optional.

Can riders still sign at the shop?

Yes. The kiosk and More → Sign waiver work as before. Your extra checkboxes aren't on the kiosk yet.
