New Notifications page: common questions

Answers to the questions stores ask most about the new Settings → Notifications page. For a walk-through of the page, see How do I set up my booking emails on the new Notifications page?

Why does my test email not include the e-signature link?

Because Include electronic signature link starts unticked in the test dialog, on purpose.

A test email is built from a real booking: the one you enter in Reservation reference used for test. Ticking Include electronic signature link creates a real signing request on that booking, and the link in your test is that booking's real signing link. Anyone you send the test to could open it and sign for that booking's customer.

To see the link in a test:

  1. Use a booking of your own, with your own email address as the customer.
  2. In the test dialog, tick Include electronic signature link.
  3. Tick Send test email, check the Email address, and click Preview.

Don't sign through the link unless the booking is yours.

Your real emails aren't affected. The provisional and confirmed emails include the link whenever Electronic signature link is ticked under Include in this email on that email's page. The line under the email in the Store defaults table tells you, for example "Includes an electronic signature link."

On the previous pages, the test ticked the box to match your saved setting. That's why it may look different from before.

Where have Who, When and Content gone?

They're all on the one page now:

  • Who is Sender details.
  • When is the Customer and Shop switches in the Store defaults table.
  • Content is Edit on each email's row.
  • Advanced is still Advanced.

The old tiles on the Settings page still work and take you to the right place.

Do my customers get different emails now?

No. Moving to the new page doesn't change your emails. Your switches, wording and sender details carry across, and anything you change in Store defaults, Sender details or Advanced takes effect straight away, as before.

I gave an offering its own wording, but a customer got the old email. Why?

Service and offering settings apply from the moment you save them, to emails sent after that. Check that:

  • the email had already gone out before you saved;
  • the booking is for that offering (or service);
  • your wording is set for the customer's language. If it isn't, the email shows Incomplete, and the page tells you what those customers get instead.

See How do I set notification emails for a service or offering?

I confirmed or cancelled a booking, but the customer didn't get an email. Why?

Changes you make yourself in Back Office don't email the customer automatically, even though the Booking confirmed and Cancelled by staff or customer rows mention staff. Send the email from the reservation's Comms tab. See Does BRM email the customer when I cancel a booking myself?

Why is Send test email greyed out?

You have unsaved changes. The button says Save to send a test: save first, then send the test.

Send test email is only on Online provisional booking, Booking confirmed, Cancelled by staff or customer and Pre-rental reminder. The other emails can't be sent as a test.

I can't see the Checked out email

It's only on the new Notifications page. If Settings → Notifications shows the Who, When, Content and Advanced tiles, your store hasn't moved yet. If you have the new page and still don't see a Checked out row, it hasn't reached your store yet. See How do I email customers when their booking is checked out?

Can I text my customers from here?

Not yet. The Text messages card says Coming soon!.

A language tab says no wording is saved

That language uses your store's language for now. For example, "No German wording is saved, so German customers get the English email shown here." To translate it, write in that tab and click Save.

Why isn't my offering in the list on the left?

An offering is listed when its service has two or more active offerings, or when it already has its own settings. If it's your only offering for that service, use All … bookings for that service instead.

The page says my shop notification address is missing

Customer booking emails depend on it. Click Update sender details, enter at least one address under Shop notification addresses, and click Save.
