Service offerings let you split what you sell into separate parts, such as bike rental, ski rental and repairs. Each offering has its own inventory, booking page, terms, waiver and emails, so customers and staff only see what applies to them.
Services and offerings
A service is the kind of thing you take bookings for. An offering is something you sell within a service. There are five services:
- Rental: bikes and other equipment for hire.
- Repairs: workshop bookings, with quotes your customers approve online. See Setting up Repairs for your store.
- Tours, activities and events: guided rides, lessons and events, one-off or recurring. See Tours / Activities / Events 2.0.
- Appointments: bike fits, consultations and workshop drop-ins. See How can customers book an appointment online?
- Ex-rental sales: sell your old rental bikes through your booking page. See Ex-Rental: Sell Off Your Rental Stock Through BRM.
For example, a shop that rents bikes and skis and repairs customers' bikes would set up three offerings:
| Service | Offering |
|---|---|
| Rental | Bike Rental |
| Rental | Ski Rental |
| Repairs | Repair and Maintenance |
If you only offer one thing, you have one offering. To add a service your store doesn't have yet, see Request Activation of a new Service.
What you can set for each offering
Keep things apart:
- Inventory: browse and manage each offering's items on their own, instead of skis and bikes mixed together. See Service Offerings and Inventory.
- Customer Booking Page: customers choose the offering first, so they find what they want faster. See Multiple Service Offerings on the CBP.
- Reservations: each booking belongs to an offering, so your reservations are organised by offering.
Make each one work its own way:
- Terms and waivers: different terms and conditions and waiver for each offering, in each language. See Documents by service offering: overview.
- Emails: give a service or a single offering its own email wording, or stop an email for it. This needs the new Notifications page, which we're switching on for stores in stages. See How do I set notification emails for a service or offering?
- Booking times: set the booking slots and time rules for each offering. See Time rules: setting booking slots by service offering and Offering control.
- Opening hours: set when each offering can be booked. See How do I set opening hours for a single service offering?
- Workflows: each service follows its own steps in Back Office. A repair, for example, is quoted and approved, where a rental is checked out and checked in. See Using BRM to take maintenance and repair reservations.
- Languages: set the wording customers see in each of your languages, for example on the booking page. See Languages overview.
- Appearance: give each offering its own look and its own booking page link for your website. See CBP launch appearance and Publishing your Customer Booking Page on your website.
